Alycia Two Bears is a member of Mistawasis Nêhiyawak First Nation but calls Mohkinstsis home. A mixed blooded iskwew: her mother is Karen Hines, a white settler of Swedish descent, and her father is Keith Head. Alycia and Keith are living descendants of Treaty 6 negotiator and signer, Chief Mistawasis. Her background is in Education, completing her Bachelor of General Studies and Bachelor of Education at the University of Calgary.

Raised in the late Sharron Proulx-Turners Sweat lodge, the teachings she received in a Two-Spirit, female-centered and -run lodge are near and dear to her heart. As a bisexual woman, this is one of the safest places to grow spiritually.

As a Poet, she has earned an Honourable Mention in the 2019/2020 Kemosa Scholarship for Indigenous Mothers in Alberta. Alycia was a contributor to the Matriarchy Edition of Winnipeg’s Red Rizing Magazine. This connection led to Alycia leading an online night of self care and poetry for femmes and females last Valentines Day. She is a regular contributor to New Tribe Magazine and has written articles about colonization, MMIW2S, Two Spirit history, terms and community supports which accompany these topics. Her poetry included in New Tribe has been driven by the love of her community.
